Are you struggling to get out of bed in the morning? Do you find your head wanting to hit the desk mid-afternoon? If you are asking yourself “why am I so tired?” then this article might be just what you needed!
Here are 5 ways to regain control of your energy:
- Improve Sleep
It is important to get ample sleep to feel energized and rejuvenated. Studies show that 7 hours of deep, non-interrupted sleep are required for regulated energy and overall health. There are many ways to improve your sleep. Avoiding blue light from electronics at least 1 hour before bed has been shown to enhance restful sleep. Setting a consistent bedtime and wake time can also be extremely helpful. There are incredible teas to help with relaxation and improving sleep quality. Sleepytime tea is one of our favourites!
- Manage Stress
Our mental state not only impacts us on an emotional level, but also on a physical level. Managed stress levels can quickly lead to an increase in energy. Taking a magnesium supplement like Natural Calm supports the central nervous system and levels out stress hormones. Natural calm gummies are also a great option to take when you’re feeling the stress come on. Meditation, journaling, and spending time in nature can also help!
- Check your iron
Low iron is very common, especially among females and those that follow a vegetarian or vegan-style diet. One of the most common symptoms of iron deficiency is fatigue. Make sure to get on a good quality iron supplement if you’re experiencing iron deficiency. Spirulina is also an incredible superfood proven to draw iron into the cells.
- Move your body daily
Daily movement is important to increase energy levels. Staying active improves sleep and helps with stress management. Walking, dancing, circuit training, yoga, and cycling are some of the ways you can keep your body moving. - Don’t skip meals
Studies have proven that those that skip meals, miss out on adequate nutrition, and therefore their energy suffers. Always be prepared. Throw a nutrient-rich protein bar like a Builder’s protein bar, or a Clif’s protein bar in your bag to get you through the day. Lara bars are also a great fruit-filled energy bar!
